Today we're going to talk about the 7C's. You're going to say, "what is that?" The 7C's are Curiosity, Courage, Commitment, Caring, Communication, Collaboration and Community, and they are very important to all of us.
We have had progress in all the generations that are alive today, and it looks like we're going to continue to have progress. That progress is called, the Digital Age, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the Artificial Intelligence Revolution, etc. These are all teachable moments for each and every one of us because we're unique, we're human. So what we're going to talk about are the things that differentiate you and me from being wiped out by progress. Not the buggy webmaker who lost his job, but how we make a difference and how we differentiate ourselves.
Curiosity is something that we all have when we innovate and look for those creative moments. It's curiosity by observing and seeing things that can become anew.
It's then having the Courage to implement, to take action.
It's Commitment to stay the course, be resilient; have grit, and stay the course to see those things anew come to fruition.
Caring is one of the most important differentiators we have. Machines don't care; we care. We're compassionate and humble. We care about our neighbors, families and countries. We care about the organizations we affiliate ourselves with.
Communication is our forte if we pay attention to it. How we communicate gets things done, and it's communication that gets the new tools or progress to become effective. But at the same time, we need to collaborate.
Collaboration is about getting members of our family to move into a project or to move forward on an issue that's important. It's the same at the workplace. Getting others, not just in our department but across the organization, to move on and solve problems, make things happen.
Community is the same thing. It's the health of the organization we're part of, all the way from family to our country, and how we make that community a healthy, positive, progressing unit.
All of this is an opportunity for each and every one of us to learn the 7C's and to teach: To teach around the mealtime table; to teach in the workplace meetings; to teach in the 1-on-1 coaching. To help others see that how you differentiate yourself in this age of progress, no matter what we call it, is the 7C's - Curiosity, Courage, Commitment, Caring, Communication, Collaboration and Community.Topics: In The Workplace (Podcast) , Interpersonal Skills , Leadership , Leadership Development , NBO Podcast
